ActiveSync "hangs"

Hello there,

I have got a problem with ActiveSync 4.1 - Everytime when I put my Axim 51v (WM5) on my docking station a little message box pops up.

This message box say "Einstellungen werden aufgerufen" (Sorry, I got only a german version of AS, but Einstellungen means settings) - but it never dissapers. So I can´t access the AS.

On my machine I run software firewall from Sygate. But I tried syncing with a turned of firewall (with no internet connection), but I doesn´t help.

Has anybody a idea what I could do to use AS?

Try this.....

Dock the x51. Then after you get the message, go to Device Manager and see if there is a device in network adapters that has a red X or a exclamation point. If it has one Delete it. Then redock the x51. It should reload the correct drivers...

I looked into the device manager but everthing looks okay. I forgot to say that I can transfer files from/to my Axim, but I cannot access AS.

But anyway I tried out your suggestion, without solving the problem.


What else can I do?

Thats weird... You can transfer files... So thats telling you that Activesync is connecting to the x51v.. You are using Outlook 2002 or better, Right?

Neither nor. I don´t do Outlook at the moment. The only Outlook version that I have is the preinstalled Outlook Express.

I did an hardreset because the hole application was useless. No "Explore" anymore. But AS hangs again. But I want to use the whole funktions. Emailing and stuff.

Has anyone an indea?

That explaines why you can transfer files but not sync....Activesync only works with Outlook and not Outlook Express. The software that came with your x51 has Outlook 2002 on it. Thats is what you need to use.

Hmm,

I'm afraid not. I installed a fresh XP on another PC while I was trying to find out whats the problem.

The first thing I did was installing AS after the first boot. And great it works! After installing Sygate I worked too.

But after I put Axim out of the docking station it - the same problem occures including no file access. Disabling the FW doesen´t help. Only a uninstall could solve the problem.

No I have an unprotected but working system. That means no internet on that system.

Activesync does not work with outlokk express. Thas why the standard install disk that comes with outlook 2002...

I had problems using Sygate and ActiveSync until I performed the fix outlined in this post: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...ivesync+sygate

Once I made the registry changes, everything worked perfectly.
