Applications in CF Card CLOSED unexpectedly

I just hard-reset my X50V running WM5 and installed almost everything in CF Card. I also applied the hacks and patches found in this site. The result is remarkable and my Axim finally returns to the speed of the WM2003 days.:love:

However, there is one problem. Some applications closed unexpectedly, mostly just after I pressed the Power button to turn on my Axim. In particular, AvantGo closed after it displayed a error message said:

"A storage card that is required by AvantGo for proper operation was removed or turned off by the operating system. AvantGo will close and will not be available until the card is reinserted or reactivated by the operating system."

I can launch AvantGo again without problem and it returns to where it was closed. The AvantGo client is ver 6.0 Build 3027 and it is installed in the CF Card.

Other applications like Wisbar Advance and Resco File Explorer just closed without warning. I can launch both again without problem. They are also installed in the CF Card.

Does anyone experience similar problem? Is it because the apps are in the CF Card? Can anyone help?

All I can say is that not all programs work really well when installed on a card. Also, you might try changing your sync schedule to 'manually'.

Based on observations from my WM2003SE days, the storage cards are initialized after everything else. I'm guessing they didn't change this particular thing in WM5 (and I have noticed some issues when turning on the device and having PocketWeather images displayed and saved on the SD card). There was a registry change (I think I found it in one of the tools like Tweaks2k2 or SKTools) that had put some sort of delay to allow the cards to be recognized before running anything. Not sure if that still is available in WM5 or not (and frankly, I've forgotten most of my WM2003se things since my X51v arrived), but that might point you in the right direction. It's just a thought, though, with no evidence to back that claim up.
