X51V @ WEP CRACKING / PACKET Decoding

Alright.

I am looking to capture packets (WEP/WPA) packets to test network security (WIFI security obviously), and I have been investigating the availible software.

Right now, MINIStumbler looks promising if I can find a card it supports, and some other various ones, that will capture packets, my problem is, ethereal does not have a ported release for PPC, and I have been unable to find any software that will take and decifer the packets that were captured.

Anyone know anything about this? Anyone have it setup on their ppc?

Thanks.

If you use Linux on your PPC then it works. BEsides you need a wifi card with a Prism2 or Atheros chipset.
I have seen some solutions for wm5 but that takes too long time to encript the key, because wm5 doesn't support packet injection.

I'd love to do the same, but Ministumbler and WifiFoFum are about as far as I've been able to get... and that's not very far. I use Ministumbler with an Ambicom CF 802.11b card, and WiFiFoFum with the built-in wireless. A port of Ethereal would be fantastic -- but I also think it'd be far too big and far too slow (on any current WM-based handheld). I think a WM port of Kismet and Aircrack (and related tools) might be more realistic, but then again, I haven't even seen a win32 port of these tools, nevermind a wince port.

I don't think Ministumbler saves anything more than a list of the SSIDs it comes across, plus associated info. AFAIK, it doesn't capture packets for later viewing. If you come across something which does, perhaps you could setup a linux box to upload the packet dump file to, which would then process the file and email you any interesting results.

Don't know much on the subject, but vxsniffer [www.cam.com] shows support for exporting "Ethereal/libpcap/tcpdump" of packet info

Packet Capturing is only possible with linux, because of the drivers. In windows it doesn't work. except you have a card with Atheros Chipset and the wildpackets driver. But I don't think that there are wildpackets driver for wm and I haven't seen a atheros based card for pocket pc.

... um .... I've been able to do packet captures with a bunch of different devices, not necessarily have they all been Atheros Chipsets. Any why does it absolutely have to be Linux? Ethereal (and many others) have been ported quite successfully to Windows.

Are we both talking about the same thing?
