CF USB host + USB touchscreen + eGalax driver... WORKS!!
I found a lot of minor problems putting to work topic setup, all together almost took me to think it was not going to work. So that I start this thread to say everything happened to me just in case it can help.
I just tested it with this car in-dash 7” TFT touchscreen, but I think most of these devices (Lilliput, Xenarc, etc) have inside same Panasonic screen.
Inside the there is a directory ARMV4 and another one ARMV4i. I tested both and I got both working. I am currently using ARMV4i.
INSTALLATION:
Copy UsbTouch.dll to Windows directory.
Register keys executing attached file. It has been buit from driver NOTE.TXT file (take a look at this file to see what each key means, probably you would change something).
If you want to get your language in Calibration tool, make a valid *.reg file from supplied language Reg files. You just need to add "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00" as first line. Execute language reg file.
Make a directory in your "Program Files" and copy TouchKit.exe and Calibration.exe. the rest of supplied executables did not worked to me but they are not required.
Soft reset.
If Axim asks you for driver name enter: "usbtouch".
IMPORTANT REMARKS:
When turning on PDA or when connecting USB touchscreen, sometimes it takes several seconds to become responsive, be patient.
I found some problems doing hot connection, but it always work for me if turn off and on PDA.
I do not know if it is just my problem because I have a second hand Ratoc CF USB host and probably it is not working properly but I found following problem that turned me crazy: When PDA is on it cradle and connected to computer most of times USB host does not work. Because I have PDA-USB-client-cable I could check once pda usb metal piece (shield of male connector) touches shield of computer usb host female connector, PDA CF USB host leaves working . In brief, it seems I cannot have pda connected to computer (activesync) while using pda USB host, I fails a lot. But I think it is not an important problem. Also, As I said, probably my CF is not working properly.
(EDIT 11.09.06) With latest Ratoc driver 1.94 all mentioned problems are gone!
CALIBRATION
Once having touchsceen responsive we need make use of Calbration.exe.
The only way I got it running is calling it from inside TouchKit.exe and I had to place Calbration.exe in Windows directory to get TouchKit able to find it
(EDIT 01.17.06) ADDED A STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE AT POST #22
(EDIT 01.18.06) Added a picture for "25 point calibration" procedure at post #23
(EDIT 01.29.06) User Bytex added an installation cab file at post #30

I was planning to do the same with my LCD...but now you've got me thinking!
What kind of money do you have to part with to get the whole touch-screen setup working?
$140 for Ratoc CF USB Host, or $90 for Twin-Paradox one (not tested)
VGA cable: $49 at Dell, probably cheaper at other stores (I paid less than $20 at Dell when I bought my PDA ????) I you want to build your own adaptor, connector plug unwired costs only $3,95.
I paid €275 for my 7" in-dash car VGA TFT + touchscreen.
I am very interested in the touch screen installation. Can you pls give us more detail. I am not a computer programmer so pls let us have a step by step installation. Thanks.

Now I have my VGA adaptor broken down. I will fix it along the day and after that I will take note of everything I do for putting touchscreen to work. I have my PDA hard reseted so it will be a clear installation procedure.
Nice work, afarre. How is the responsiveness of the touchscreen monitor?
Sorry, I cannot say too much about that, I still have the device in the box because I have been very busy and travelling. I am planning to install it today. May be I could say how happy I am with it in some days.
BTW, I do not know who is the maker of the device, but screen is Panasonic, it is expected not to be so bad...

Anyway, thank you for sharing with us this great invention. Hope that I can make one for myself and looking forward to your installation details.
