Is 15 seconds normal to open an application from standby?
G'Day Everyone,
I've been searching the forums trying to find a relevant post to answer my question however I can't seem to find anything. When I have my x51v in standby mode and press for example the 'contacts' application button, it takes about 15 seconds to actually power on and bring up the contact screen. Is this normal? I'm used to the Palm os whereby you can turn it on via any application button and it responds instantly (and I mean instantly).
If there's any suggestions you folks can make I'd really appreciate it.
I'm using A06 and have Wisbar Advance 2 running (Whista theme), and the Resco File Explorer with Today plugin (although I'm not showing any memory/battery icons on the plugin - program icon shortcuts only). Apart from those two applications, nothing is running. I've disabled the Odyssey client too.
Cheers

Wisbar and today plugins are slowdowns, try disabling them and see if the problem presists.

Do you have anything running that hits the Internet for updates? Weather plugin, RSS reader, etc.
My X30 starts right away when I press a button. The only time I have a delay is when I soft-reset it. Maybe your X51 is powering right down rather than going int standby?

Hi Maciekish,
Thanks for the reply. I tried as you suggested however it didn't seem to make any difference.

Hi Noisy Crow,
Thank you also for the reply. That's an interesting point you raise. Any idea how I could check whether it's powering right down? When I turn it off by pressing the power button and then turn it back on w/ the power button, the today screen instantly appears yet I can't do anything for about 15 seconds (i.e., pressing any buttons has no effect). It's a really frustrating problem given that the primary point of having a PDA over an appointment book is the ability to access information instantly (well more or less).
Cheers

I believe that with WM5 and the x51 series, a new feature was introduced which allows the axim to fully shut down rather than just "screen off" like other (previous) models. I don't have any PDA right now so I can't tell you exactly, but you should dig around in your device Settings (in particular the Power utility). Somewhere there should be some settings regarding the full shut down / "screen off" mode.
15 seconds is way too long, shouldn't be happening. Good luck.

I have the same issue and have been looking around to see what the deal/cure is. For me, it's like 25 seconds and it's getting longer over time it seems. It USE to be like 4-5 seconds, but that was after a fresh install. Even turning off the today plug-in's doesn't do anything. Any ideas from anyone?
UPDATE: OK, it helps to RTFM. I went into the Odessy client and disabled it, then EXITED from it, and now it's like 3-4 seconds til it's operating again (ie. from a stand-by off). That's nuts, but there you go. When I activate it it takes the 20 seconds as before, so I wonder what it is doing....
