force x50v to use all ram as program memory
Hi all :)
Is there any way to force my x50v to use all the ram for progam memory?
when i move the slider bar in the memory section to alow maximum program memory, the slider just slides back to the middle. I dont use ram for storage and would like to use all(or whats left available) for programs.
any help would be greatly appreciated :)

can't help you sundance.... Uncle Bill has pretty much hard coded it in. You can move it to the left, but if you move it to far then Unlce Bill will move it back again.
And there's no way round it, except to upgrade to wm5... and you DON'T want to do that

No, with Pocket PC 2003 SE, there's no way to set all available RAM as program memory. Windows Mobile 5.0, however, is designed to allow this. Many people have had problems after upgrading, so I wouldn't go this path. Instead, try to maximize as much program memory as possible by installing apps to BIS or your SD card, moving DLL's, etc. My X50v uses up only 8 megs of program memory for storage.
Also, read this Aximsite tutorial on memory management.

You can set the slider to 7 meg for storage and it'll stick. Any less and it will reset itself.

Don't worry about it. If your program needs more, Uncle Bill will move it for you. It'll move the bar as far as it needs to, then when you end the program, it will move it back. Automagic. Uncle Bill knows more than you do about how much memory you need, right?

no seven is not the limit.... i got it down to 4
to do this, you need to delete all of your programs on ram and move them to rom (built-in storage or mem cards) and then, it will elt tyou move it lower....
but really, unless you are a big gamer, you really won't need it..... unless you are SUPER-MULTITASKER!!!

Actually, it's 16.66% that counts and not the actual megabytes. Please read my article at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 on all these questions (BTW, I was the first to publish this info in the Pocket PC world).
