Question ActiveSync Critical Error

Hi,

I am having a lot of trouble synchronising with my pc and with outlook 2002. It was working very well until recently. Now when synchronising folders I get a message “attention required” under the status column and nothing is transferred. The error message I get is Support Code: 86000209:

“A critical error has occurred. ActiveSync can recover from this error, but the next time you synchronise, you may lose changes you made since your last successful synchronisation.”

The next time I sync, I get the same error and nothing gets transferred.

This is very frustrating and I now have several days of data that has not been synced, which is making me nervous.

Any assistance or direction is much appreciated.

Peter.

I have got this in the past. Active Sync gives me a lot of trouble. I would reinstall AS (choose the repair option), soft reset the Axim, and keep trying.

Before you reinstall anything
- M$ says run detect and repair in Outlook (worked for me)
- Chris De Herrera says deselect mail, sync, the re select mail.

Find which works for you and remember it, it's likely you'll need to do this from time to time. Activesync is a high maintenance girlfriend.

Yes, thank you. I just did exactly that and now it works!

I do have another question, though. When I reboot I cannot sync - the computer does not recognise the connection on any USB port. But if I log off and then on again, it recognises it immediately. Any clues?

Thanks.

Question same problem

Hi Peter,

I'm having the same problem. It started when I installed my new iPod and began syncing both from the same computer. I don't have any definite solutions yet, but the one I've seen says to reinstall ActiveSync, so I'm going to try that.

Best wishes,
Michele

If you are running Office 2003, you'll select Help > Detect & Repair. If you are running Office 2007, Detect & Repair has been replaced with Office Diagnostics.
