51v Strange Behavior

I have a new 51v with WM 5. Every so often, the start pull down screen looks like it is in a constant "scrolling" motion. I can fix it by turning off the unit and restarting.

Any thoughts?

what do you mean by "scrolling"? What software have you installed?

the menu stays in the same place, the items don't actually scroll. Each item down the list "lights up" like it is highlighted and this "light" moves from top to bottom and back. It's like you were tapping each item quickly starting at the top and moving down.

When it is doing this, I can't select any items. I have to shut down to make it stop.

I only have the Dell GPS software and Flash 7. It was doing this before I installed Flash.

Never seen that before.... Is your D-Pad possibly getting stuck?

the ROM is A06

It did it again tonight while using the GPS. I couldn't get it to zoom in and when I hit menu, the list looked like it was scrolling again. I shut off and powered on and it was fixed.

I used to have this problem with my Acer n10 with WM2003 (not SE). However, I still haven't figured out what caused the problem. Anyway, x51v isn't the only one that has the problem.

If you don't have a lot of stuff on it, you might want to try a hard reset?

If I put everything on CF and SD cards, will a hard reset remove them too?

no, but you need to reinstall your programs though since there are entries in the registry. You documents will be fine.
