This thread has been a great read so far, just missing a bit of paranoia... so here goes:
I'm sure Dell is having great fun reading this too. Sending out A08 to MrGimper (or is it Giggles!) was a masterstroke on Dells part.

Dell will now recall the axim from MrGiggles who was sent A08 by mistake. Instead they will return him with a freshly flashed version of A10. Dell will make sure that any screeshots he takes will show updated versions of WM5 and some registry keys with the info we all want to see.
Mr Gimper will then be kind enough to post the update to this forum or thread which will generate another 14 pages of wit, disbelief, questions, doubts, claim and counterclaim, diatribe(s) etc...

Meanwhile Dell can relax and delay things further.

Call me paranoid.

Just been on holiday for a week. I havnt done any work this morning to busy readiny this. Halerious.

But Mr Gimper

I personaly dont care if it is real or not as i am happy with my A06 cos i dont use much BT stuff. However some people do so to prove it is A08 csn you simply take a quick VIDEO of it using your mobile phone and post it.

Or let the doughters keep douting.

Thanks gimper

Sorry Mr Gimper.

Sorry Mr Gimper.
Why bother .... people will doubt that too. Perhaps I should have an 'open house' and people can pop in and take a look for themselves ......

No, we wont doubt the video if it is of reasonable length. That would make us believe.

I'm sorry dude and I know you probably don't care but I think this whole thread is BS. If it was true then why hasn't Dell released it on their site?

there are several similar (although shorter and less 'interesting' ) posts when wm2003se upgrades were released for the X50,

So it wouldn't be out of character for Dell & it doesn't prove /disprove anything either

This exact same scenario has played out for every Axim, starting with the X5. People start receiving new Axims with newer ROM builds on them, then a couple weeks later the update shows up on the website. The only difference now is that everyone is SO anxious for a fix-all update that we've started questioning everything.

Remember when most people would wait to load a ROM update? In the early days here people would wait a while to go to a new ROM because they wanted to make sure it was good, and didn't want to waste their time re-loading everything if it wasn't worth it. Now we're like a bunch of addicts running up and down the streets trying to find new builds. "I need that ROM update!!! Can't you see I'm drowning over here!!! AAAAAAHHHHHHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAAHH!!!!!!"
