come on, the A08 fellow was trying to be nice & let us know there is something new. even if u don't believe him, you guys don't have to step all over him & call him a liar :)

april fool's day is long gone anyway...and I don't see much good to him if he wanna lie about A08.

we are not going to benefit anyway unless dell puts up a link to DL on their website so take it easy

I just hope soon isn't far away. But honestly I think i'd much rather have a complete working widcomm over MS bluetooth anyday.

Regardless MS won't implement headset profiles in the PPC version because they think its pointless. They're only going to include it in there phone edition.

As long as my bluetooth headset works as a wireless speaker for my Axim, i'm happy. Perhaps allowing my Motorola V635 pair up would also be a perk.

The guy isn't lying about it. I asked him to post the info after he mentioned it in another thread -- I know the silent majority here is happy to know that the ROM has been released and should be available for the rest of us soon.

I've noticed many people keep asking "What happened to ROM A07?" But I've seen on Dell's driver's download page for the x51 series that it seems Dell designates an even number ROM for the v series and an odd number for the non-v series. Right now if you look at Dell's sight for the latest ROM for a non-v x51 you'll see the ROM is A05.

For us x51v owners we went from ROM A04 to A06, and now (hopefully) to A08.

Odd nubmered ROM's are for non-v series x51's.

So it seems to make sense that the begining of this thread claims his ROM is titled A08 for his x51v.

Oh wait. You right, who cares what the number is. Just give a ROM that makes the Axim something truely worth bragging about to our friends without having to explain why the bluetooth turns on but doesn't really work.

At least Dell is doing something, I suspect a new public ROM update will be soon. I care nothing but the A2DP and AVCRP so I can use my bluetooth headphone without the bulky transmitter dongle. lol.

Well you can either patch your program later on to make it work acording to Spec:
Microsoft

Or you cna change your Spec so it matches the program before it is released:
Apple

v true dude ..... i'm new to this board and don't really give a monkey's ass whether the doubters believe me. I've got nothing to gain, or any reason to lie... and certainly neither the skills, patience or time to create a perfect photoshopped fake.

I wouldn't take any offense considering that a lot of us on the board have been waiting so long for an update and we have been let down many times. People are just anxious. :)

I almost hate to ask. But can you discover the services on A08 and post them? If you don't have a system to do that then download btbrowser from here http://wireless.klings.org/main.php/BTBrowser/ and run it on your axim and post the results.

I know it alot to ask from a stranger but we are all dying to know. Oh, and post and run, becuse the responce is going to be ugly.

Mine was a corporate purchase. It was ordered from dell end of March. The order status said it was delayed "awaiting components" and had an estimated delivery date of 1st May. Then it turned up yesterday :)

I've moved from a Palm lifedrive so am getting used to WM5 (had a tosh e570 years ago) .... but if people have SIMPLE tests they would like me to perform on my device to (dis)prove fixes/updates/features present in A08, then feel free to ask.

I'm gonna create a "Please Mr G, can you try this on A08" thread, if thats OK with you guys.

Mr G

Hey MrGimper,

Thanks for your willingness to see what's on the new rom. A lot of us have been waiting to see if new bluetooth profiles are supported, especially the one for wireless headsets. Here is a link for java

http://www.cdt.luth.se/projects/alip...awince.arm.CAB

It's good to have this on your axim anyways as from time to time you might need programs that require it

Thank you for sharing this vital information. The skepticism is solely oriented towards Dell...
