Dell not going to make any new Axim models?

I just heard on dl.tv (episode 51) that Dell confirmed that they will not make any more Axim models? Anyone else hear this??

I haven't heard anything for sure from Dell yet. Until I do, I will consider everything I hear as hogwash.

It has been known for quite some time that the x51 series will be the last of the standard (non converged) pda's dell will build, as the market for these devices has been shrinking steadily.

Thought is probably a better word than known, as it isn't known yet.

I think the rumor originated from Brighthand, in which a Dell representative was quoted saying Dell did not have any plans on releasing any future non-converged devices.

Fine with me. I believe it's time for Dell to release an all in-one pda that rocks the market...:approve:

I'll send an email to robert, the guy on dl.tv, and see what his source was. (if he'll respond).
he did say that they (dell) said the focus was going to be smartphones (blah).

Patrick just wrote me back and he says his source is "Dell's Head of PR. Not dropping them...just not making any new models. They could change that, but sounded like they are ceding the PDA wars to smartphones".
