downgrading OS and a thought

I purchased a x51v. it came with WM5.

is there any way to get this thing to go back to 2003SE??

on another note. I have read the compaction thread. if these machines cam with RAM originally and WM5 is only using ROM (so we don't need the power on all the time) does that mean all x51 user have RAM not being used??

I believe that MS got the whole thought process wrong. why not develope a "hybernation" system like XP. change the minimum level of the batery to 10%. when the level is reached then the system hybernates and transfers RAM into ROM. this would allow use to move as fast as we want without using up valuable writes to our ROM.

could this still be an option if the RAM is still in the machines??

I can answer one of your questions right away. No, the x51v cannot run 2003se. You can only use WM5. Sorry.

No. The X51s only run on 5.0, period.

No. The X51s use their RAM for running programs, the same as any other device. The only thing that has been changed is that there are no longer any files stored in RAM, only in flash memory. All RAM is now used as program memory.
