Contacts, Calender, WiFi, backup/restore, and Active Sync Problems.

Where do I start? I'm in the Coast Guard and underway right now so our connectivity isn't the best for searching every single thread I could about the problems I've had. This is my first post so I'm not too sure if I'm doing it right. I love this site and all of the information I've gotten from you all so I am going to you guys for everything way before I have to deal with Dell.

Here are my :

1- I cannot open my contacts or calendars in the Axim. I don't know what happened, I didn't delete anything on accident nor did I move anything that shouldn’t have been moved.
2- My WiFi automatically turns on if I power on the Axim after leaving it off for sometime. I've checked around in the settings and in help, but I can't seem to find anything that will fix this problem.
3- After I noticed that I couldn't open my contacts or calendar I tried to restore the information from the backup program already installed. Yeah...no luck. It would go to about 5% and then it would say there is an error with backup.exe.
4- I think this activesync problem is related to my contacts. I can't sync anymore as a user, it always wants me to log on as a guest. I've tried deleting the profile and now it won't allow me to even create a new one.

I need help. Like I said before I've tried to search through some of the threads here but with us being underway its hard to get the best connectivity. I need some feedback on where to start before I launch this thing off the flight deck...

Thanks for your help,
Jason Sardinas

Let me take a quick stab at the problems. First I would go into outlook on your pc, go to File->Import and Export and export the entire mailbox (pick the top choice and then check to include subdirectories) to a .pst file. Then open control panel, go to mail, and delete any profiles. Create a new one and let it create a new .pst file. On the axim, go to Active Sync, stop it if necessary, and go to options. Delete any pc's that are listed and check the other tabs to make sure there aren't any servers listed and that the mobile schedule is set to manual only(might be causing wi-fi to start). Try to delete the associations from AS on the pc. Try syncing again and hopefully it will come up to the add partnership wizard. When it syncs, it should copy the data from the axim to outlook. If not, no problem. Just go to File-> Open-> Outlook Data file and open the one we backed up earlier. You can drag and drop any information that didn't get copied correctly to the file you are using now. The just right click on the backup file and tell it to close. Hope this helps!!

PS. Keep up the good work!!!!!

Thank you very much for your help, but I tried everything. I ended up having to do a hard reset to fix all of my problems. Now its working correctly. Once again, thank you for your help.

I have just experienced most of these issues with my X51v in the past couple days. The odd thing is that in the past week I haven't added or deleted any software from it and the only thing I've used it for is TomTom 5. Sudden non-functionality is really sad and I'd like to avoid a hard reset. Anyone have any other suggestions for this poor soul? Thanks!
