Bluetooth troubles with V710 X51v, and also sync via bluetooth?
Help me, please!
I went through the instructions for my v710, got it to connect to the V710 and even try to dial #777, but it connects for 4 seconds or so and then it says CALL ENDED on the phone, no error or anything displayed. The DUN profile doesn't show up under services available on the Axim, but the phone is able to dial, etc. when the X51v tells it to. I followed the instructions to a "T", imported the registry settings to enable the DUN profile, etc., then the phone showed up in my list of available ones to use as a bluetooth connection under New Connection in Connections on control panel, so I set that up and it doesn't work :(.
Also, how do I get it to sync reliably via bluetooth? I tried to get the COM port on the computer to be the same as the one on the device, but it won't work. I set ActiveSync to allow connections to the incoming port that is configured in my Belkin bluetooth utility, but I only got one sync before it alternates between CANNOT ESTABLISH CONNECTION and staying on Connecting indefinitely (or Opening COM port indefinitely). What is up!?

Addition who needs that kind of stuff any way huh?

Yes, it says CONNECTED and starts timing itself for four to five seconds, then says Call Ended and disconnects. The Axim then tries to redial, with the same result endlessly.

Can't help with the phone issue, but check this thread on the bluetooth sync issue. I just went thru this yesterday. The "Help" file is incorrect - you don't want a COM port. Go into bluetooth on the Axim and delete the partnership and refresh. You should see ActiveSync come up as a service(might want to be sure that it's available on your computer in bluetooth under Control Panel). Once you select ActiveSync as a service on the Axim, you should be able to sync.
This might be a what you do first thing. So according to diogenes does this work?
1) make a BT com port on the desktop.
2) on the Desktop Activesync set it to use the BT com port. _ Here is the problem I think. you can't set the active sync com port it just searches all of them?
3) On the axim pair and discover services. Activesync will appear as a service.
4) start Activesync on axim and select sync via bt.
I've gotten AS to BT but I think that damn com port search is the problem. Seems to get lost sometimes.
I'm just a noob myself, but this is just what finally worked for me.
Sync with USB.
Go into Control Panel on your computer and open Bluetooth Configuration
Click on Local Services Tab - ActiveSync should be shown as a service. Mine originally showed COM5, but my Axim will not connect to ActiveSync on that port. Mine will only sync if I select COM7. You can change the port by clicking on the ActiveSync service and clicking properties. The only choices I had were COM5 and COM7.
Turn on Bluetooth on the Axim and make it discoverable
"Pair" the Axim and your computer
Tap on the Devices tab in the Axim Bluetooth screen and you should see your computer there.
Place and hold your stylus on your computer's ID in the Axim BT Devices screen and select edit to open Partnership Settings. If ActiveSync isn't shown there, tap Refresh.
Tic on the ActiveSync service
Open ActiveSync program on the Axim
Tap Menu and then Connect via Bluetooth
If you get an error, try steps 6 thru 8 again
Don't try setting up COM ports on your Axim or Sync'ing from your computer. If the above is successful, your Axim will start ActiveSync on your computer.
Also, check the screen shots linked in the thread I linked in Post #6 above.
HTH. I'm way over my head with this and it wouldn't surprise me if I've skipped a step or two. I've had my Axim one week and it replaced a four year old Handspring Visor Pro...

I still can't get the Bluetooth going with my phone, though... it has DialUp Networking listed as an available service, tries to dial out, and is hung up on in about 4-5 seconds on the phone's end. I'm at my wit's end :( !
I'm able to synch with USB. When I go to Bluetooth local services, I do not see ActiveSync as a service. Perhaps I deleted it during my 3 hours of hair pulling? I tried re-installing ActiveSync 4.1. No change. I tried "Bluetooth Configuration-> Local Services->Add Serial Service", and changed the text from "Bluetooth Serial Port" to "ActiveSync". Yeah - pretty desperate I know. But now ActiveSync shows up as a Local Service. Maybe. I made sure it was assigned to COM7. My Axim is discoverable and already paired with the computer. On the Axim bluetooth device tab, I see my computer. I edit the Partnership settings. ActiveSync is not shown. I refresh. Still no ActiveSync. ActiveSync->Menu->Connect via Bluetooth results in "Cannot find an existing Bluetooth partnership with a PC that supports ActiveSync. Repeated trying produces the same frustration.
I'm envious of those who have their Bluetooth up and running. Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know how I got mine to sync, and it doesn't do it EVERY time I click to do it on the Axim, but at least it works most of the time. I'll worry about that more after I get the phone issue fixed! PLEASE, does anyone know what could possibly be wrong?
First, go back and delete Bluetooth Serial Port from the Local Services tab. Then go into Bluetooth Places->Find Bluetooth Devices on your computer. You should see your Axim there. Right click on it and select Discover Available Services and see if that adds ActiveSync to available services on your PC.

Can someone tell me EXACTLY what to do from the point when you get the devices paired and the DUN profile shows as a Service Available? Are there any codes I need to put in the dialup rules or something when making the connection? What username/pass are you using to successfully connect? I want to find out why my phone won't work with this, since everything appears fine on the surface :(.

right? If so, I don't know why but it just isn't working. Do you think it's something with my service from Verizon I could call about that's bugged? I really don't know why this doesn't work, I just hard-resetted, loaded JUST the Resco Explorer/Registry Editor, and did the instructions, same behavior as before :(.
