Annoying Display Corruption

Look at the attached screen capture of my X50v. This kind of corruption occurs quite often when I have to scroll horizontally. The same thing still occurs with WM5 upgrade. I'd have to force a screen redraw, for example call-up another program or open the Start Menu, to rectify the situation.

Does it also happens to other's?

I think it occurs in all apps with horizontal scrolling. I've seen this in Internet Explorer, Word, etc.

I had this same problem with my previous x50v. I posted this question at many forums but no one could give me the answer. So at the end, I called up the Dell Support Centre, they told me this was a known problem, and they immediately gave me a new replacement of the x50v.

I understand how it felt like. No matter how hard u tried, whether changing the registry, or even updating the ROM to the latest, the problem just persisted.

Now with my new replacement unit, the problem is gone. Thank goodness Dell is very good at its aftersales support (in fact my warranty has already expired when I called them up about this issue... couldn't imagine how i could live with such annoying display problem for more than a year!).

So, quickly --- call Dell up, and get it changed immediately!

I would do that too if I were you. Or perhaps a hard reset?

No. Not even a hard reset will do the job. I have tried that many times. The Dell people didn't even troubleshoot any further; they just agreed to give me a new replacement the minute I told them about this problem.

I even had problem with the Microsoft Reader using the defective unit. At the bottom part of the screen, where usually we see the "<" and ">" to indicate left and right page-scroll, they were replaced by funny characters like "&" and "@". Now with this new unit, the problem is gone too.
