Backing up Contacts / Calander

I'd like to backup the contact and calander of my x50v WM2003SE VGA machine. But I'd like to do it in a way that I can see the data without using proprietary software. I've had bad luck backing up in the past and I'd like all my contact info to be available in an xml file- something that even notepad could open.

Is there such a utility?

Thank you.

All you have to do is sync to Outlook. There, you can make backups in a number of formats, including PST and XML.

Not the only way - on WM2003SE (and, for that matter, any pre-WM5 operating system), you can also use Pocket dbExplorer and/or SKTools to separately export these databases into CSV and/or XML files. Please see my blog on these two apps - I've referenced them in there many times.

Thanks, guys. I just exported from Outlook to .xls. On my linbox I'll change that over to Open Office format.

You guys are great!

I backup my Outlook *.pst files often, several times per week. I'm paranoid of losing them. I think both Outlook and the pocket pc are far from 100% dependable, so backups are very important.
