just recently purchased x51 right choice?

I just purchased a x51 624 with my dell credit and am waiting for it to come. it was 397 with a leather case and tony hawk or whatever. Anyways I was wondering if this is available any cheaper. Dell's site is screwy sometimes about prices. Also would i be better off just getting a cheaper one like the 416 or 520 mhz? I plan on using it mainly to do voice recordings, browse email and net, organize my life and for aol im. Are these things going to be extinct soon and will i basically be screwed? I am just wondering because i dont want to get stuck paying for something that I wont even be able to add new things to etc.. hit me up on aim at ENthawizeguy if you want as well. Thanks

If you got an x51v, it won't be extinct for quite a time to come. Price-wise you could have gotten it far cheaper on a sale (I got mine for $243 + tax last week with the leather case that is bundled). It is an INCREDIBLY good PDA, just make sure you do the "Fake Server" trick to solve some issues that are there out of the box. As far as I'm concerned, I run my Axim X51v at 624mhz all the time instead of leaving it on auto... I want it to get my work done, and not make me spend any time waiting. It does so perfectly :). I am going to be using mine for similar functions to you in terms of PDA requirements, and it is able to handle them very well.

Congratulations on your purchase. I'm sure when it comes you'll find it a good PDA despite the fact that there are a few threads on Aximsite cursing it. Well forums are usually filled with negative comments. Do the Fake Server trick like what GoldenTIger said and don't install all your programs in one go. Install it little by little to ensure that everything is compatible with your Ax and you'll be loving it.

i def am looking to get emulators, an email program, a good voice recording program for lectures ideas and aim and any other programs you all suggest. let me know where i could get these and thanks ahead for the help?

there are plenty of different emulators you can use.. poke around in the game forum. you can use the included email client for your email or if you have web-based email you can just use that.

They are supposed to be 499, so I'd say you didnt overpay.
I am hoping to get mine soon, woohoo. Oh and I paid much more than 397. I paid closer to 520 USD, so dont feel bad.

I dont feel so bad now, cause if I configure my dell as I got it using the current 347USD Axim and add 1gig sd card and extra battery and BT keyboard and vga out cable it comes to 607USD, and I only paid about 520USD.

So looks like I didnt overpay and got a very good deal.

For once I paid less for something in New Zealand than I could get straight from USA

Guess there is a first time for everything?
