Activesync 4.2 fixed my usb problems
:approve: Thought I would give it a try but did not have much hope. Big suprise! I can now connect (and stay connected) via usb to my 51v with the new version. I had been limited to BT until now.

Hmm...I've never had problems with the old version. It's good to hear that you're up and running, though.
AND, welcome to Aximsite!

I was going to start a thread about an ActiveSync issue until I saw this one. I am able to sync using USB but it often works only one time before I have to reboot my PC. Right now if I put my A51v in it's cradle nothing happens with ActiveSync. It just says not connected. I'm going to try version 4.2 to see if it helps.
Ahovis, that name sounds familiar. Trying to remember where I have seen it before. Now I remember. You wouldn't happen to have a Blackberry would you?

I have AS issues as well (the not connected thing happens at least once a day, usually much more). Sometimes ReSync works to kickstart things again. Sometimes I have to do a reboot. (And it seems like I'm rebooting more and more with AS4.1 than I did with 3.8, not only for connectivity, but in general.) I was thinking about trying the new beta, but I'm hesitant. The worst thing I get now is the not connected thing, but AS has been known in versions past to duplicate, erase, etc., records and such, so I might just stay put with this (comparatively) minor nuisance.

I had AS issues with 4.1 and my 51v too. Couldn't explore the mobile device. It never showed up in My Computer.
4.2 fixed it.

Is Activesync 4.2 the solution or the mere fact of reinstalling activesync solved the problem?
I don't really have problems with 4.1 on my x51v.

v4.2 is a Beta right now. I think you can get it on the MS website or look for a link in the related thread in the Frontpage content of aximsite.com

Well I was one of the brave (stupid) ones who downloaded AS 4.2 Beta...
Everything was going fine - could AS via BT with no problems, until I tried to access the internet via BT and the host computer. Nada, nothing, zilch. All I got was the standard message at the top of the PDA telling me to check my settings.
Was about to post for help but thought instead to uninstall and then retrograde to AS 4.1 - lo and behold it worked fine and I can now AS via BT and access the internet via BT on the host machine.
Just my twopenneth....I wouldn't use AS 4.2 if, like me, you access the internet via BT on your host machine
(I originally posted this on the AS 4.2 is now available link, copied it here so you can all see what happened to me!)
