Bluetooth Sync Issues

Hi all,

I could use a little help. I am trying to sync my home computer with my X51V via bluetooth. I am using a little usb bluetooth plug in (is the correct term a dongle?). The home XP pro recognizes it fine and installed the drivers.

but it is not exactly like my set up. Is that 2003?

Anyway, I cannot seem to make the Axim and home computer use the same port. How do I adjust either the home computer to the axim port or the axim to the home computer port? The home computer seems to only like port 4. The Axim seems to like only 7 or 8. When I am on the settings/bluetooth/COM ports tab and tap/hold the listed incoming port (7), I can access a drop down menu that lets me pick either port 7 or 8. I think this is the only thing stopping me from being able to sync.

I have my home computer listed under new partnerships in the settings/bluetooth/devices tab. Both the Axim and home computer have the same password.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They do not use the same port. I have a Toshiba laptop with a dongle. and an X51v. Here is what you have to do.

1) create an new bt serial connection on the laptop, note the new com port (5 on my toshiba), the name of this com port will eventually change to activsync. But for now it will say serial.

2) On the laptop start activesync then File-> Connection Settings. Uncheck Use USB, and Do check Allow connections to one of the following com ports. You can not check which one to use. But you can try to select com 5.

3) On the Lap top make sure BT settings are set to make discoverable and let remote devices discover services.

4) on the Axim start activesync and select connect via bt -> selct the laptop folow the instructions given.
