Anywho, my conclusion is that xcpuscalar does decrease the filesys problem. It may only help, or it may solve it completely, I can't say for sure, but I have been using it for a while now and would not use my pocket pc without it now. But like I said, this is based on my observation on use, and not by looking at any tech specs or cpu usage of the thread, so I can't debate with anyone why this works.

Are you running on Battery mostly or do you use the cradle a lot? What finally killed the deal for me and WM5 was the double hard reset my device did while I was on the road and away from my charger for a while. Had to fully restore the system - twice - because the unit hard reset itself once and then completely locked up the second time.

I've had it completely lock up, but found that certain installed software caused the problem. I've even had to flash the rom once when it locked up. anyway, xcpuscalar hasn't caused any of those problems for me, and I use battery most of the time, but do use it in the cradle and charger occasionally. I use the standard battery and the 3600 super extendded battery some of the time. I also use bluetooth and wifi. Just to be safe, i turn xcpuscalar off within a few days of installing software to the rom and let the axim stay on for 15mins in the charger, just in case it needs to compact and can't with xcpuscalar.

There is no compaction thread in WM2003. The compaction thread is used to clear up trash in the flash under WM5. WM2003 doesn't use the flash to store the volitile OS stuff - it uses RAM, which doesn't need the trash recovery.
What you are seeing is the compaction thread giving way to a higher priority program. Over time, you will slowly run out of storage space due to trash buildup in the flash. At some point, the compaction thread will start and nothing will stop it until it determine the system has enough free flash for the transient files of the OS.
That is what Bluevolume is referring to.

Yes, there is... Don't throw information about before informing yourself...

Well I don't let trash build up, so there :P
I should say that xcpuscalar may not be working alone to shush the compaction thread. I did alot of registry tweaks as well, store all the programs I can on a sd card, don't write to the rom when I don't have to, and I don't even use ie anymore, netfront rocks and stores the cache on my sd card without crashing like ie does. I've been using my pocket pc a lot and over many weeks, and not once has the auto cpu scaler shot up to 624mhz because of the compaction thread - meaning it only goes up that high when it's suppose to.

but oviously happens what should happen , 100% cpu filesys crap , but....
then i install Xcpuscalar 2.93 and all works now like a charm!
today the 100% cpu filesys begins again and i start the XcpuScalar (first shuting down XcpuScalar and then loading it while the filesys is 100% cpu) and sudenly filesys.exe stop Bugging me ... and the unit come back inmidiatly to work speedy as wm2003 .. now i use xcpuScalear turn on all the time and filesys works like in wm2003, it sudenly get the cpu high but only for a few seconds just 1 or 2 no more than that. this happens 2 times (when i forgot start XcpuScalar at the begining and when fielesys start to bugging i start XcpuScalar and Voila ! all normal again
Tomorrow i going to start to install some things to my Internal memory and far by now everything is fine , no filesys 100% episodes by now
the funny thing is than before i made the same thing (moving all the files than i can to sdcard) but always filesys start at 100% cpu , but now the diference is than i use XcpuScalar , it cure that behavior

all it does is waste battery, and could ruin your processor...
but filesys still runs...
not a cure...
can i get a duh?
