Cant Install programs on x51v!!??

I have had my x51v since September of 05' and to this day, every app that i download specifically for windows mobile 5.0 (so says their descriptions) will not install! *Error message* "This is not a valid Pocet PC application"! Very frustrated!

Ive grabbed some file from posts on this site, as well as other sites with no luck.
I have tried downloading straight to my device, and also to my CF card (256mb) first and then tried to install them from there, with same result, same error message!

*If anyone can give me a solution, or a link to an application they know for sure works on the x51v with Windows Mobie 5.0, i would be very greatful! As of now, i can play the stock solitare, bubble breaker, take some notes, go online, and navigate via GPS, but new software that actually works will get me to that "in love with it" feeling again!

Looking at other threats relating to the install problem... Others are saying that after they installed something, or had a system crash and restored it stopped working! Mine hasnt done that, since the first day i tried to install something ive downloaded ive gotten that error! At first i just thought "ok, its new, and im new to it, so ill figure it out later"
Dont know if its just that im downloading things that arent compatible, or if i have a software problem!?

Have you tried installing the apps from your desktop through active sync? Some programs require this installation method rather than direct install from memory card/storage.

Maybe you should try doing a hard reset and then if that still doesn't work, you might want to call Dell and seek assistance or get a replacement.

Just in case you don't know, you can do a hard reset by pressing the reset button at the back of your Ax while holding on the power button. And then just follow what the screen says. It should say press the Contacts button to hard reset.

As a last resort before hard reset, can anyone post a like to a game, or an app that i can download quick, (one that they know works for sure on x51v) to see if its just my downloading skills? thanks!

Sounds like you are trying to install programs directly from your device rather than from your desktop through ActiveSync. The majority of .EXE programs written for PPCs require the program to be installed through the desktop PC. Usually only .CAB files will install directly on your device.

install them "through" active sync... is there instructions to do this in my manual or is there somewhere i can find this info?

Place your X51v in the cradle connected to your PC and sync. Then run the application you want to install from your computer. This should automatically install the program to your device. Your device will probably ask which location (i.e. device, SD, or CF) you want to install the application to. That's it.
