Rate your x51/x51v!!! Was it worth buying? Should you get one? See what others say

**PLEASE READ BEFORE VOTING**
This poll is meant for x51/x51v users only. No offense to the x50 users out there, but we all know the problems that you are having (trying to upgrade to WM5), and anyone considering buying a new Ax, is probably looking at the x51.

A lot of newbies come to this site to find out if an Axim is worth their money (I know I did). It's unfortunate that a lot of them get the impression that people are having nothing but problems with their Axims. I think that the reason for this is that many people come here when they need help - and that's fine (I know it's the first place I turn to when I'm having a problems). On the other hand, when everything is going well, most people dont say anything. I'm at fault as much as anyone else is...I have gone months just reading and enjoying this site without posting anything positive because everything was (IS) going great.

Well, after posting my opinion (that the silent majority of users are happy with their Axim) in this thread, I was challenged to prove my statement.

So, I thought it would be interesting to find out: Where DOES the majority stand? ARE other users as happy with their Axim as I am? Lets find out.

Use the following guide to cast your vote:

5 - Perfect - I have NEVER experienced any problems. I love Microsoft! I love Dell! I'm going to go hug a tree and kiss a bunny. The world is perfect!

4.9 - I'll admit: it's not perfect. No electronic device is. But, any issues that I have ever had with it have been easily resolved. I am one happy, healthy Axim fan and would take my x51 over a similar device any day. :approve:

4 - Minor problems - I have experienced a few problems that still dont have a fix. I can live with or work around these short comings, they're not that big of a deal.

3 - Indifferent - I am unimpressed. It has some problems that I have to deal with regularly. My x51 hasnt made my life worse, but it sure hasn't made it any better either.

2 - Lots of problems/Major problems - I still use it, but only because I got suckered into buying it and I dont have the money/time to buy another device. The problems that I am having are show stoppers. This thing gives me grief on a daily basis.

1 - Junk - This thing has more issues than Rolling Stone. I completely regret buying this or have even sent it back and gone with HP, Palm, etc...

Unfortunately, nothing is perfect...not even this poll. If more people with problems use this site than people who dont have problems, there may be more votes for the lower numbers. So, if you are one of those happy users who just reads the forum for tips and tricks and are not yet a member, sign up today and cast your vote. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

For the record...I voted 4.9.

Right now its a 3, but Dell Customer Service is a peach in a bunny suit, and they are sending me a brand shiny new one - we will see after that.

I've gotta go with a 4 until the Bluetooth stack is enhanced.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll be gone all day.

This was my first PPC and I was taken by the procedures that need to be done compared to Standard O/S's. Installing software, setting up a personal area network, Bluetooth etc, etc, etc were challenging in the beginning. I bought this unit strictly on hardware that it possesses. I am not disappointed one bit on the actual hardware. I am slightly disappointed in Dell and Microsoft not supplying us with the Bluetooth stack. If you have owned a previous PPC this one rocks. My only suggestion is there is a bit of a learning curve to setup software, Email and controlling running programs and keeping the memory as efficient as possible. If any computer skills at all dive in and you will never regret.

Even with the problems ... I'll take my x51v (WM5) over my x50v (2003se) any day of the week. --- Vote 4

WM5 is imho the best thing to happen to PDAs (even with its problems) in a long time!

Count me as a silent majority one here... excellent overall experience, yeah a few hitches but that happens with any computerized item. I love it (4.9 here)! I have a new Axim X51v which came in last week.

4 due to crappy bluetooth stack and the neccesity of changing ActiveSync schedule to manual (A.K.A. "fake server trick").
