What exactly is that "filesys Patch" is for? If I have x51v with WM5 and want to improve the system speed (with other registery tweaks), do I need to also apply this patch? Thanks.

No! The 'filesys' (actually compactionthread) patches are for the x50(v) ONLY. It is an application that puts constraints on the 'housekeeping' thread that plagues an upgraded x50(v).

x51v doesn't have that problem btw, so you don't need the patch. My x51v is incredibly fast right now...:approve:

I suggest you guys/gals do the ie registry tweak, so the cache, temp file would be on ypur memory card, checked out at windows mobile msdn blog, really ease the machine, for me
What does deletin the poutlook file do and the flag registry values ,those are the only things I didnt do or the sk tools thing, im not tryin to disable menu animation it only saves like a .25 sec
I did all your tweaks and YES! Now I have an Axim X50 with WM5 running fine.
But, I cannot use the Bluetooth. It says: "The bluetooth radio failed to turn ON due to insuficient driver memory available. You must perform a normal reset before you can turn ON the bluetooth radio." Of course I did it many times without success. Do you know what is wrong?
Note: I upgrade de broadcomm bluetooth driver but my wm5 is in Brazilian Portuguese. Can this detail to be a trouble?
I've done everything and it's noticably faster. But, I can't install the filesys Patch. Whenever I run it, it says it's not compatible with my device. I have a X50v with WM5. I don't understand it. I did a hard reset and downloaded both versions, 10 and 11 and neither works.
wow. Looks like you guys are on to something. How about posting impressions after a week and longer? Then we can nrarow down the steps and find whcih parts are actually needed, maybe make the process simpler.
:)
Yall seemed to have missed this so ill post again What does deletin the poutlook file do and the flag registry values ,those are the only things I didnt do or the sk tools thing, im not tryin to disable menu animation it only saves like a .25 sec

Hello,
I have the same problem. Please let me know if someone else has seen this issue.
erm.. Make sure that you imported the .REG file correctly PHM Regedit could not manage that (wh knows why?.. ) so I used Resco Registry, then soft reset (by using the button on the backside, NOT via psshutxp or smth else.
Works fine
Nice!! I implemented an upgrade of WM5 today, following the steps outlined by GRMILLER This is the most stable installation of WM5 I've ever had. Of course, I'll need to continue to play with it for a while before I know for sure.
