ok been running this setup since it was first posted, before this I had most of the tweaks in place. I did do a fresh install of my gear just to try this set up out even though my previous was fine.
Just over two weeks and every things running smooth as when I installed it with about 3 hours daily use.
:) Reinstalled everything from XP to my WM5! This time I didn't apply any of Solsie's patches and only use Tweaks2k2 on my X50v. Incredible! It works beautifully! Thank you all for the invitation to enjoy the new features of Mobility5! And yes, Syncing Contacts does work!
I messed with the registry the first time around, and won't go there again unless I learn exactly what I am doing. I run everything on my WM5 and it works flawlessly for me. I don't worry about any speed issues since I really don't have one.
The features of WM5 I enjoy are the new sounds, sleak stylized interface, improved transcriber, and all of the unique software that utilizes Java! WM5 connects my world to the internet and streaming media better than WM03se. I believe that was the point. WM5 is a must have on my list for the Axim X50v! Just don't mess with your registry compulsively on your mother computer as much as I did with all the reg. cleaners or on your Axim. It should work like a clean, fresh, and "made for" install. Have fun!
Just try the last one. Because I got it from a HP Site and my PPC is now working 100% Bluetooth and all.

Just wanted to report my findings so far from following this thread. My X50v is running much better than before. WM5 felt very sluggish to me, but it wasn't causing me any major problems like for some users.
ROM version A01. Axim "seems" faster. I haven't run any kind of benchmarks, but it is noticeably faster to me.
BTW, my method was only to install the game "The Great Gold Rush" demo and do the SKTools performance settings. I didn't want to do a hard reset yet. And I don't think I will at this point.
I can add my voice to the growing list of happy WM5 users. Prior to the help in this thread I had installed WM5 3 or 4 times and each time I rolled back to 2003e because WM% was too slow or buggy. This time everything works exactly as it should and all my favourite software is installed and working correctly.
Thanks to all those whose hard work has helped me to reach this state of satisfaction.
Mines still going strong even though I have installed and uninstalled some software I foudn I didn`t want to or didn`t meet my expectations... no sign of slow down what so ever.
Another good tweak is to move the pie temporary internet files to a storage card since I did that my ppc runs faster and pie runs smoother/faster than opera now, u can find this tweak at www.Pocketpctweaks.com
This list is the best after this if your X50 series With WM5 does not work 100% than through the X50 out the window okay. Talking about the best tweaks ever.
FIRST HARD RESET
1. Than Goto the Start Menu
2. Settings/Systems/ Click Error Reporting Click DISABLE
3. In the Same Settings/Systems Click Power Than Processor Tab and Click Maximum Performance
1) Start up AS on your x50.
2) Tap the menu tab/soft key and tap "Add Server Source"
3) Configure a server source with a dummy IP address, user id, password and domain name; these do not have to be real
4) Once configured you should have another sync source show up on your main AS screen...continue on.
5) Tap the menu soft key again and you should see that the sync schedule option is no longer greyed out.
6) Change your schedule from a timed automatic start of AS to manual under both fields
7) If you try to sync now, AS will try to contact your imaginary exchange server and that will take forever until it times out, so you can now delete the exchange server from your list of sync sources. Your changes to the sync schedule will remain and will survive soft resets too.
REG TWEAKS
1. Get Tweaks2K2 3.21 version and install it and goto Tweaks/System Tricks/System Tricks.
2. Collection 1 - Uncheck Everything.
3. Collection 2 - Check only Show AM/PM in the clock and Wake up Power off time 60s.
4. Collection 3 - Just check Alarm Fix for WM2K3/5.
5. Collection 4 - Uncheck all
6. Collection 5 - Check only Increase the PNP Unload Delay, WM5 Optimum Cache Size and Do not delete CAD Files.
7. Than goto the Tweaks/Video and check the Speed up display.
Than click Tweaks/Exit.
And Soft Reset Okay.
a. Goto download Resco Explorer and install it with Regeditor.
b. Do the following if not changes from the Tweaks2K2.
HKLM\drivers\buitltin\strataFMD and delete the two CompactionCritPrio256 and CompactionPrio256.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\FileSys and change it to say \CF Card\Volatile or \SD Card\Volatile instead of \Application Data\Volatile.
Than goto \Application Data\Volatile in file explorer and delete cut the folder and copy it to the place you asigned it too. Wait 30 secs and soft restart the PPC.
Also goto the Windows/Startup folder and delete the poutlook file.
Than this sounds funny but go and get a game that is called The Great Gold Rush and install it and run it when you run it for the first time you will see that it asks to change something in the reg files to make it work faster well it makes the PPC faster. About 5-10% okay. (Note you can uninstall it if you like after the reg changes and soft reset okay)
NOW LAST TWEAK AND READY TO FEEL THE SPEED
Go get this SKTools
I used SKtools set for performance and the following are set
Disable windows animation
Disable menu animation
Set font cache size to 32768
TCP window size 98304
File system cache 2048
Do that with SKTools and than Soft Reset and tell me how it goes.
My PPC is working 100% now. If you don't believe me here it the video.
Thank you so much I am sooo ahppy for these hacks It works great, Although I have one problem with 2 programs 1 from skyscape ( no pictures) and another ResQshop that just will not load comes up with error and some #(-2147467259 form unable to load) Application error contact manufacturer I am working on the latter any other suggestions?

Well yes you are correct I reloaded all the software from scratch but I did the registry hacks first, tweeks,SK tools and Resco all before installing my regular software Lo and behold Its damn near perfect like My HP 5550 I am HAPPY SO Far Pictures Video etc, I did not Do the Widcomm BT as I really dont use them alot so Happy Happy Joy Joy
I have one question about the DataCacheSize tweak. When I type in the hexidecimal number of 0x1FA0, I get the decimal value of (8096) vice (4096). If I type in the hexidecimal number of 4096, I get a hex value of 0x1000. Which is more important, a correct Hex number with 8096, or the other way around?
Still going strong! No hard resets or anything! I didn`t bother with the BT stack before cos I was waiting for the easy install version and now thats installed everything on my X50v is how it should be with Win Mobile 5!
I'm going to have a go at this tonight i think! Thanks for the heads up!
