Java for X51V
Hi,
I own an Axime X51V. I try to surf some java enabled web site. Every thing work fine except the Java Applet section does not show up. Any one know how to solve this problem?
Many Thanks

I've just received an X51v also and have the same question/problem. Websites come in fine except for the java portions. I've posted on Dell forum and now here. I see nobody has answered your question in almost two months. There are a lot of advanced users here, I wish someone would help us out.

You need Netfront or Opera or another app to make things work properly and view it as you would on a desk/lap top.
PLENTY of threads on these.....plenty of debate as to which is best.:rolling:
I am leaning towards Netfront 3.3......there are discounts for both out there now....seems the competition is on!

Welcome to the forum both of you, i believe ur best bet would be to try Netfront, although i dont think the trial version supports java.

That's javascript, not Java. I don't think any of the browsers support java, although I answered someone else's identical post a while ago with a link to a program that looked promising.

Thanks for your replies. Yes I read further back through some more posts and saw where Netfront or Opera is required for javascript. So I downloaded the Opera 8.60 trial. So far, its pretty good. It is a little buggy, but it gets the javascript working. Have had it freeze up on a few websites and had to soft reboot though.

I have heard that about Opera......Netfront has a trial period but, but all the java stuff is disabled.....don't really know how you are supposed to test it at that level, but I may dive in while there is a discount

I purchased NetFront and I still could not view the Java applet samples that came with the installation.

I'm curious about this as well. I downloaded the trial of Opera and may well want to keep it. Of course, a discount would be nice if one is available. I've searched in these forums, looked at the Opera website, and have googled for Opera and discount or coupon, but haven't found anything current. If someone knows of a current discount, I sure would appreciate learning about it.

You can copy cab files into any directory you choose via explorer.exe (my computer) on your desktop or laptop while your pocket pc is connected (and activesync is running). I believe there is a tutorial on how to do this in the "tutorials" section. If it's not, use the search function to find a thread on how to do this. You should have tried the search function for the 2nd half of your inquiry and if no answer, posted it in the PDA noob section. As for running java programs in ppc, do you mean through a web browser or offline?
