X51v not syncing

Quick question. I have just got my new X51v (A06) and it resolutely refuses to talk to the PC.

I have tried the fake server trick - no luck
Disabled error reporting - no luck

Done a couple of soft resets and a hard one and still no joy - the PC and AS (v4.1) can see it and try to talk to it but no response. If I drop my X50v in the cradle it sees it and syncs.

Any thoughts and ideas very welcome - if I've missed a trick please tell me what or point me to the instructions.

Does it show up as installed properly in Control Panel>System>Device Manager?

I've run into this a few times where it didn't install the driver properly and a simple 'Update Driver' got it working just fine.

Put the x51v in the cradle and go to "My Network Connections" and make sure the network connection associated with the windows moble device is enabled.

Have you tried turning off your firewall? Firewalls can cause problems sometimes.

your right my internet security won't let the axim sync. disconnect from the internet and switch off the security. when it has finished remember to turn the security back on

I had the same problem with mine. The port was blocked by the Security firewall in addition to my McAfee firewall. Even though it connects via USB it uses a network connection

Thanks for all of the suggestions - i am going to work on some of these over the next couple of days.

I have just docked the X51 at work and it took around 5 seconds to make a successful connexion - I have a feeling it is the the firewall because the work PC is protected from the server whereas I use Zone Alarm on my home PC - though it didn't throw up a warning.

Has anyone else had a similar problem when using Zone Alarm - it didn't cause any issues with the X50v which is what I don't understand - but I will trun it off when I get home and try it out - is it worth turning off the anti virus as well - just while I try to establish a connexion?
