Question How do I make Se_VGA or OzVGA run on my x51v ?

Hello guys,

Before you all start flaming me with: "We have discussed this with ad-nausem" let me tell you that I spent more that 2 hours researching this issue on aximsite and google.

I have not found a definite yes. As a matter of fact I found out that it DOES NOT run. And ofcourse, SE_Vga indeed does not run on my new x51v (with WM5).

Is there a hack for this ?
Is there any other program that can toggle my x51v PDA to display true VGA or QVGA ?

Please help.

Thanks.

You can use this application to change to True VGA mode:

does that program work good? I guess it wouldn't hurt to just try it, as stated on that page, you could always just uninstall it.

[Update] Works great. A few programs have problems, but most work perfect. The only bad thing is Iguidance 2.1.3 doesn't work. It gives an error looking for IguidanceQVGA.exe cannot be found. Unfortunately that file isn't even in the install directory. So that means I can see an Uninstall shortly. The bad thing is that the PPC must reset to take affect. So you just can't turn it off and on (which would perfect the program).

All in all, it has it place.

it seems like once you install the program you're stuck in vga mode until you uninstall the program. I hope that's not that case..

Somebody else may prove me wrong, but from my brief experience of trying this program I think you are right - the only way to get out of vga mode is to remove the program. At least I could not find any other way of doing it...

thats what it says on the page you downloaded it from. A toggle would be a better option.

I created a toggle application to switch between VGA and QVGA modes.

You can download it from the site below under the Download Files section, it is called VGAToggle.exe. You will have to copy it to your device manually for now. I will include it in the normal cab installation in the next few days, and add a shortcut to it for easy access.

There is a modified version of oZVGA here on Aximsite. You can get it if you search for Real VGA Working with Full Icon support.

GOD Bless you all for diligently responding to my query.

I'll do the installs and let you know about my experience with it.

As far as my knowledge goes, iGuidance has a problem with switching from VGA to QVGA and back.

Once you use VGA then you always have to use that one. It kinda deletes the actual exe files.

This is what I did to prevent re-installation of the whole iGuidance pgm whenever I use to toggle my x50v with SeVGA: Before I ran iGuidance after its installation, I copied the 2 .exe files to my CF card. So whenever I used to toggle to VGA, it used to delete the original .exe files. Then I would go back and copy the .exe files back whenever I wanted to run iGuidance in QVGA mode. That way I did not have to re-install the whole GPS s/w all over again. :)

Mark,

Should I wait till you make your VGA toggle more user-friendly ?

If this toggle works, essentially making it work like SE_VGA, then you should modify the instructions on your website which say that "You need to un-install this applicaation to return to QVGA mode."

Thanks again for making our life better.

Cheers.
