I tried to get my X50v into mirror mode this afternoon, and all I get is a fast-flickering screen, and nothing on my VGA monitor.
I disconnected the VGA cable, in case it is faulty, and it changes nothing.
I also tried a hard reset, which also did not work.
So, unless there is a setting I am unaware of, should I assume I have a faulty Axim? Since Idon't have any other problem with it, it seems strage to me.
I like mirror mode a lot, but have you tried using ClearVue to connect to a monitor rather than Mirror Mode? I am pretty sure that ClearVue (which may be available as a trial) can make it work for you. The only other thing I can think of is making sure that the cable isn't bad.
After what I said above, you might consider a problem with the Axim...isn't there a more recent ROM version for the x50v on WM2003SE?
I'll give ClearVue a shot. I confirmed with the cable maker that he checks every cable before shipping it. That and the fact that I get the same problem without the cable plugged in leads me to believe it's more an Axmin problem.
I'll also check the ROM update. I did not want to update because "why fix it if it's not broken?" Well, maybe now, it is.
I just updated the ROM to A05, still no change. As soon as I activate Mirror mode, the screen goes blank, with fast, white, flickering until I perform a soft reset.
I really hope someone has a solution to my problem. If not I'll have ro resign myself not to use any VGA output since I cannot exchange the Axim because the warranty has expired two months ago.

Its probably the cable. Send the sucker back.

The problem is, I don't believe it's the cable because I get the same weird reaction wether it is plugged or not.
Unless that reaction is normal if there is no cable plugged when Mirror Mode is activated.
I didnt' read your post right at first. It does sound like something strange is happening with your x50v. I don't think there is anything you could do to fix it if a ROM update didn't help.

Yeah, I believe I'll just forget about using my axim to view movies on an external screen.

I just did a test on my X51v with eneabling mirror mode without any cables connected and after just one very short flicker (approx ½ second) it continued without a problem - the same when I disabled mirror mode - one short flicker and on we go.
Suggest you contact ... aahhm ..... sorry about this ..... Dell Support (I go and wash my mouth now)

My good man, why do you hate me so?
I have never contacted Dell support yet. Does anyone know if it's as bad for Canadians as it is for Americans?
Well, Dell support confirmed that there is nothing to do, except get a new Axim. Of course, sonce everything else works A1 with the one I have now, and I don't have money to burn, I will keep mine for the time being.
The VGA cable is still nice because my cradle broke about six months ago, and It's the first time since then that I can charge (I mean really charche, not trickle-charge) and sync at the same time. And it costs me less than a new cradle.
So, thank you to everyone who tried to help. I really appreciate it.
