@Patrick Y.: Thank you very much, but do you think it's still a working idea to get an X51v? I mean, it's over 1 month old, perhaps they already know the trick too well. On the other hand, i live in germany, there may be not that many X50v users in my country, who ever tried this.

So i should tell them that i have bought Windows Mobile 5, installed it on my X50v, but am having many problems with it. I would act like this:

I tell it to the free support. They give me the case number then?

After that i would contact the mail address that you have mentioned in your tutorial.

How high is the chance of success?

I was happy, cause I too baby my PDA, put the screen protector on right away, and properly condition my battery during the first uses (full charge, and then full discharge before recharging). Even better, I bought my X50v used off of e-Bay (although it was in perfect condition).

Not sure it makes a difference, but I am a small business customer. As well, mine came with A06 (still not sure if that ever exclusive A08 exists yet).
Quick note, the Axim x50, x51 use a Lithium Ion power source. IE, you don't need to condition them. Ever. Just make sure the first power up is complete.

I just got my replacement X51V. It is new and came with the full package (cradle, case, etc.) Runs great. So far I'm very happy with it. It seems to work better than my X50V running WM2003SE or WM5. I guess it's time to start installing software...

New!

And it didn't take much complaining past their first 21 day blah blah email to get it either.

Tips. Never talk to a human being over the phone.

1) Start a chat session. Complaing about usual stuff, but say that you have to leave (I actually did), and you want a case number to continue the discussion.

2) Plug the case number in the website (listed in the other big thread).

3) 2-3 days later you get an email from an American. They usually will offer the refurb.

4) Keep the email going for 1-2 times more. Mine caved in and then offered the new one!

QQQQ...Did you guys buy your X50 when they were offering the WM5 Upgrade with the sale or before they even had the offer. I have had mine since jan 05 w 2yr warranty still in effect. Bought the upgrade CD and does not work. Will they still replace.

Refurb!

Mine was replaced with a refurbished unit. The only way i could tell was that there was a "REFURB" sticker in the battery compartment.

This is one clean refurb though! I can't tell that it's not a new unit, so I am happy.

I figure I finally got the WM5 I was waiting for, and the unit is just as nice (if not nicer) than the one I sent back.

Just got my NEW x51v today. Yippy!

Dell IS on to us. I talked to 5 different people to just get my money back for my CD... I was pissed that WM5 would not work and seems like I've been waiting forever for a patch.

Then I read this thread and went for it. Talked to 3 more people telling them I will keep the CD but want an upgrade to use it. Buddy was trying to tell me there was no problem with the X50v and WM5 and that recently there have been TONS of people trying to get upgrades because of these forums and when he asks people about the problems it sounds like they are reading from a list on these forums. I told him I did not care about anyone elses problems but my own were real and I wanted it fixed...

Now here I am typing this message on my new X51v.

just a note guys... If you have a legit problem, get your upgrade... If you are reading from some other doods list of problems then you probably don't have problems and you should probably stick to what you have cause they will see right through your lies.

Long live the X51v! This thing rocks!

 After getting 3 refurbished ones that each seemed to have something wrong with them, either cosmeticly or internally. I now have received a brand new unit that is working great. We will see.:jd:

2 Questions:

1. Where can i access the online chat on Dell.com? Is it the same as the chat for Dimension and that other thingy? But i need a service tag for this..
2. Is that chat also avaible for Dell Europe, German? I'm a german one, that's why i ask.
