Poll: Got your x50 replaced with a 51? New or Refurb?
For those of you who got your x50 replaced with a x51 thanks to the other thread floating around here, did you get a new replacement, or a refurb? I have heard both, initially they all seemed new, but now I have heard of people getting a refurbished x51.
I am thinking about trading in my x50, as it seems they will never update, and it is still under warranty. But I baby it; my x50 is in pristine condition. It's always in the magnesium case, with the exception of the cradle. The screen has NEVER been touched without a protector on it, and I mean never, not even when I first got it...I put the protector on before I even did the initial setup.
So basically I would rather buy a new x51 than get a refurb for no additional cost. I can eBay my old x50 no problem, and recoup most of the money, I'd pay a premium for a unit that runs WM5 well in new condition.
Got mine replaced with a NEW X51v. I was surprised, but even on the phone call they said they were sending out a new unit. To make sure everything was new, they also sent a new cradle, and a new high capacity battery (which was part of the original purchase), even tho the cradle and battery are the same.
I was happy, cause I too baby my PDA, put the screen protector on right away, and properly condition my battery during the first uses (full charge, and then full discharge before recharging). Even better, I bought my X50v used off of e-Bay (although it was in perfect condition).
Not sure it makes a difference, but I am a small business customer. As well, mine came with A06 (still not sure if that ever exclusive A08 exists yet).
I just got a refurbed X51v in exchange for my X50v, and it was as clean as I could have wished for. Considering I (like the previous poster) bought mine off eBay, and it was well used at that point, it was a nice upgrade. :) Although I had a dream last night that one of my cow-orkers wrote on my un-protected screen with a marker...
Refurb, but the only way i could tell was the sticker under the battery cover. Im guessing some of thier refurbs are ones that were sent back with bad batteries, no stylus or whatever and had no problems. Who knows, but it didnt look used to me.
Well, I received mine and there is no sticker in the battery compartment. Unit looked brand spankin' new. So I guess the one I received was infact new.
I got refurbished replacement. However, it looks just as good as new. Refurbished models aren't neccessarily damaged or defected. I using the refurbished x51v and I have no problems at all. I think that all refurbished dell axims are like new, unlike refurbished dell desktop or laptop.
