Aximsitewifiicon Wifi alternate IP address question

Ok so I just got my Axim X51v last week. My first road block is getting wifi to work at home and at work. I understand how to setup the wifi, but my problem is not haveing the ability to have an alternate IP address. I'm use to my laptop where i have DHCP enabled and if it doesn't pick up a DHCP server it goes to the alternet static IP.
At home I have DHCP enabled so there is no need to manualy enter an IP address. But at work I have a Static IP Address. Is there any way i can configure this on the Axim?
I do not have the wifi companion, but does not look like this does it either.

Thanks!

As far as I know, there is no simple way to change from static to dynamic settings or back without manually doing it each time. Certainly nothing that comes installed on the Axim will do this and I've never seen any third party software that will do it, either.

Checkout WiFi Companion http://www.socketcom.com/product/SW1221-596.asp I think it will do what you are looking for. There's a 3 day trial.

Whenever I need a specific connection I use WiFiFoFum.

Tap the mac-address and select 'connect'

Know, this is not THE solution - but it works for me ....

BTW: Welcome to the AximSite - sit in and enjoy :)

Start, Settings, Dell WLAN Utility,
make sure wlan is ON,
Click setting, choose the "Network Adapters" tab,
select the "Dell X51 WLAN Wireless Adapter",
select "Use specific IP address"..

Well, think you can take it over from here ;)

Well, you could buy another wificard using that one for dhcp.. but otherwise there's no sollution other than change the config everytime.

Actually, I am surprised that anybody still uses static addressing on a network, especially a work environment....
