Losing music files from SD card,,, wmp corrupt ???

Hi all,,,
have had a great day so far with my new X51v,, thanks that is,, to the forum members here who have kindly spoon fed me thru getting set up for the very first time,,, but i have just come across a very annoying problem,,

I am completly puzzled by this,,, Here goes.

Earlier today, i filled up a 2gb sd card with some of my favorite albums,, copied from my pc,s harddrive. There is hardly any space left on the card,, so its nearly completly full of music.
I have been playing mp3s all day,, but all of a sudden i have noticed that some files are missing altogether,,despite me playing them earlier ????

I can click on,, lets say,,,the beatles,,,,, 4 beatles albums will open in the boxes,,, but when you open any of the albums to play them,,,, the folder is empty.

Now this has happened to about 8 of the 30 or so albums on the sd card,,, completly empty folders,, where a few hours ago,, there was a full folder !!!

Its all very strange because,,,, when i take out the sd card and put it into my pcs card reader,, all the files are completly intact,, and are all full of the tracks that should be there,,,,,,
basically,, the card is not the problem here,, its fine.

What on earth is the problem here ???

Is there an easier way to access the music files on the sd card,,,ie/ can you just open up media player with one stroke,, and then open the library and play what you want from the album list,,,, just like you can on your pc ???

Incidently,,,when i have opened up the media player library,,,, it seems to have been taken over by a whole series of 1, 2 or 3 second sounds,,, that seem to be from the axims sound library,, you know what i mean,,, clicks,, and sounds that the axim is capable of ?????

This really is bizzare,,,,,even as an experienced pc user,, this is troubling me somewhat,,,,, PLEASE,,,

Are you using WMP? There is a feature under Menu called Update Library that will search for all your multimedia files and load them up on a playlist sort of thing. Did you do that first? If not, remove the card, do a soft reset, then reinsert the card. Open up WMP and then Update Library. See if that helps.

You can also try TCPMP, the gold standard of all players! :approve:

Hi Gigi,,
Many thanks for that,,, worked a treat:approve:
Found out what was going wrong in the proccess of soft reset.

When i opened up my music files,, there is a drop down box,, which says,
"my device " and underneath that,, "sd card ",,,,, needed to be set to my sd card,, not the device .
For some reason or another the axim is defaulting back to "my device " each time i turn on the axim,, which is why i was getting a list of 20 or so axim sounds in the library.
Its a pain in the butt,, but each time i turn on the axim, i now have to open up the " my pictures and music " from the start menus drop down,, click on that,, then manually change it to,," sd card ",,, then i am able to play my music again.
Am delighted that it seems to be working ok now,,,mp3 storage was " one " of the main reasons i bought the axim and a 2gb sd card in the first place.

Whats this tcpmp like ???? Is wmp 10 unstable on pda,s ??? Never had any problems with it on my pc,, always been reliable.
Cheers,, kev.

TCPMP is freeware that plays almost everything under the sun. It seems to be more stable in some circumstances than WMP for PPC. Give it a try if you get a chance. It does a great job with video files. Check out the Multimedia forum for more details .
