Saving state in windows media player

Hey guys,
every time i power on my axim x51v, windows media has lost its state (i.e. my playlist is gone, the library has reverted to "My Device" as opposed to "CF Card", the song i was playing is gone, etc etc). Is there any way to preserve state when i power off my device so i can get back to my playlist when i turn it back on?
i have already done the fake server trick.
thanks.

Leave the program open. Turn off the today timeout by going to start, settings, today. This will keep the program open even if the axim is off, as long as it has a batt in it w/juice.
