Aximsiteactivesyncicon Hard-Reset implications

Hi everyone,

I've had this X51v since the start of the year and have been very fortunate in not having any problems worthy of note. However the device has become rather clogged full of garbage and I am considering installing a lot of new software soon, I've decided it's probably time to clean it out. Basically I am inquiring about the hard reset process. If I take the plunge and hard reset the device, what are the steps afterwards? Do I set up the device again as if it was out of the box (with regards to AS on the host PC)? Are there any speed bumps I should watch out for?

Thanks in advance!

Before you hard reset, make sure you sync to Outlook if you have PIM info to preserve, and make sure you have copies of all files/documents (e.g., WORD, Excel, etc.) you have saved in internal memory (e.g., check My Documents, etc.). Do the hard reset, and before you resync, delete the current partnership from ActiveSync (File - Delete Partnership). Then sync and you can start rebuilding. Also make sure you have the registration info you need for your programs.

BTW, if you want to be extra careful, you might also want to make backups of your Axim as well as desktop Outlook just to be sure you won't lose any data.

I agree with all of these steps. It is the very same process that you would have to do when performing a ROM update supplied by Dell.

totally agree with above. it basically reverts your pda to its out the box state, so back up any data first. :approve:
