Can't receive pictures from mobile phone

I have a Samsung SPH-A900 and am trying to send my pictures from it to my Axim X50v running WM 5.0. The pda can send contacts to the phone but I can't get the phone to send pictures to the PDA.

The phone and the PDA are using dialup networking.

I guess I need to know how to set up dialup networking better between devices. The PDA doesn't support half as many of the bluetooth protocols as the phone.

I wish there was a utility that would allow the PDA to do FTP over bluetooth.

Has anyone ever researched this?

Thanks!

Donna

I'm able to pair my Moto V551m with my X50v to transfer pictures from my Axim to my phone without a problem, but I am running WM2003SE. I also did not use dialup networking but merely paired them for OBEX file transfer.

Does the Phone have Infra Red capability? this is how I share pictures between the 2 devices, just make sure that the Phone device infra red capability is enabled if your phone has it, then place the 2 devices in site of each other.

I have a Samsung D500: I have to use IR to send pictures to my X51v. I think Samsung routinely cripples BT in their phones.

more so it's the provider that's ordering the phone crippled.

that's what I'm thinking.

btw, I can pair my moto V3C RAZR flawlessly with my axim. Photo and video transfers both ways.

the only thing I'd suggest is to check out Howardforums.com and see if there is a hack for your phone on your provider.

Upgrade your bluetooth with the Widcomm stack:
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=122247

After I did this, everything to do with bluetooth became easier. I have the v551 and with the Widcomm stack, OBEX work properly and it's really easy to browse my phone and pull off pictures, video's, and MP3's. On top of that, you will now be able to use your BT headset with the x51v as well as many other features too.

I am having similar problems, connecting my X51V to my Sony Ericson K750i.
They see each other, and for a secure connection I fill in two identical codes, but when trying to transfer pictures to my X51V, my phone says he can't connect.
Connecting my X51V to my BT GPS was easy, but not to my phone!!

I can send data from my Dell to my phone, but not the other way around .
Is this something that could be solved wit the BT stack I read about? I am reluctant to install it, it looks like an advanced user option..

It's really easy to install and most of it is in a CAB format. The only manual part you have to do is removing the MS Stack manually through a registry editor. As long as you're comfortable navigating your registry and deleting keys, then you are fine. Very clear instructions are also given on which keys to delete which makes it hard to screw up.

It was a big eye opener for me when I finally installed the Widcomm stack. I didn't realize exactly how bad the MS BT was until then.

Sometimes the solution is a easy as enabling the Axim to accept beams since the axims treats bluetooth as a beam just like IR. I have an motorola v551 (rogers) and can send pictures from it to my X51V with ms stack. If this is not the problem, try sending pictures to devices other than your axim. If you cannot send pictures from your phone to other devices (phone, computers, ipaqs, pdas with widcomm stack) then your phone's bluetooth has a problem, if you can (send to other devices), then your X51V's ms stack cannot accept files from your phone. The MS stack is too unpredictable, may work with some devices may not with others. I also installed .38 beemer's and mikelspikel's version of the widcomm and I still can send pictures from my phone to the X51V plus a lot more functions.

I agree 100% with SB22 regarding Widcomm's superiority compared to the MS bluetooth stack. Dell probably was trying to cut cost, they must have known how pathetic the ms stack was on windows xp and still tried to market the ms stack with the X51 pda's.
