Icon13 Heart Sick...

Walking over to the water cooler, my X51v jumped off the belt-hook and hit the floor from waist height. I was surprised at this, but not too worried because the thing has fallen before without damage, and it was in the case, so I expected to pick it up and put it back on my belt, ensuring I heard a solid >CLICK< and carrying on my happy way.

So I picked it up and flipped the front of the case up just to make sure it was still going strong, and my heart sank. Diagonally across the screen from halfway up the left side, to the top almost in the right corner, the glass has a crack.

The display shows, the LCD is not leaking goo all over the place, but the crack is nasty and clicking (gently) with the stylus shows that it doesn't work right anymore.

I'm assuming this isn't going to be covered under warranty, is it?

What do I do now......?

Broken digitizer. If it's not covered under your warranty, there are companies that offer these services. PocketPCTechs, for example. Digitizer replacement is $150.

There are others (PPCTechs just off the top of my head).

if your in the UK then you can contact Apex for that sort of repair. You may well be able to get a discount since they did offer other forum members a discount on screen repairs once.

Thanks folks.

Sent it to PocketPCTechs.com today. Hope it enjoys the R&R and comes back better than ever! :-)

I also bought a couple writeshield screen protectors. Hopefully they will put one on for me (I asked). I always end up with bubbles or fuzz or something...
