Greetings all,
First post.
Until recently I've been very happy & problem free with my Dell desktop and AXIM X50. I'm running Windows XP on the desktop and 2003 SE (v 4.21.1088) on the AXIM. I have installed purchased software & applications downloaded sucessfully and been running just fine.I installed Norton Internet Security 2006 and had no problems after that install as well...
I've used the synch cradle with no problems since the initial install, been able to synch my files and MS Outlook contacts/calendar. I was away for a two week period and the battery in my AXIM seems to have run down. I recharged the battery and when I placed my AXIM in the cradle the device seems not to be recognized--I'm logged in as "GUEST" and told my "Device Name" is already taken.
When I have the AXIM in the cradle and attempt to work with my desktop PC I have approximately a 2-4 second opportunity to type before the "border on the active window" changes from blue in color to gray...this process repeats itself continually.
I've set the synch schedule to manual in the Active Synch menue. I believe my soft reset on the AXIM turned into a hard reset as now the applications I'd previously installed (except for Outlook contacts) seen to have been erased.
I've reilstalled ActiveSynch from the CD that came with the AXIM.
Is the "flashing" an attempt to synch the desktop & AXIM? Might this be AOL or Windows polling devices? Norton Security?
Sorry to say I'm a rank amateur here and no local "savvy users" to lean on for help...anyone up to the challenge?
Many thanks in advance to any of the very knowledgible posters here. I'm at al loss having no idea what to ask of the "Knowledge base" Dell canned support.
Regards,
All thumbs and fed up.
