turning off the onscreen keyboard

ahh this drive me nuts..when im done with the keyboard, theres nothing there to get it off the screen...is there some command to give it to get rid of it?!

Is there a way to keep that keyboard from automatically popping up?

there IS no keyboard icon at the bottom of the screen that's the problem! I guess the KB is blocking it!

What program are you using when this happens? The keyboard icon is normally white, and if you have a white background, it can be very hard to see. Also are you in "full screen" mode?
