Exclamation Bermuda triangle folder .. ie disappearing files

Hello,

I've recently just rolled back to wm2003 from wm5 on my x50v, I stuck with wm5 for about 6 months in hopes someone would fix it, but even will all the tweaks it still sucked.

So now I have wm2003 and am getting weird problems. Files in a folder on my SD card will disapear. The folder will still be there, but I cant see the files in it. this has happend to me 2 or 3 times... first on my e-sword folder.

- I went to open esword one day and got an error.
- I soft reset ... still an error.
- I go to the esword folder and there is nothing in it.
- I check resco explorer to make sure I can see hidden files... still no luck.
- I check on my desktop.. no files.. (I cant create a folder w/ my desktop, it says I dont have the right permissions.
- I check the permissions (why they have changed...?..) .. still nothing

I finally decide to just reinstall esword. After I do that, t still gives me the error, so I go check the folder again..no files still. So I try a manual install.. (just copy the right files into the folder.. it looks like it copies fine (ie.. no copy errors) but there are no files in the folder still. Everything that goes in to the folder dissapears!! To get it to work I had to delete the folder and make a new one.

This didnt bother me at first because It would just happen to program folders (folders that the programs were in on the SD card)....

But then It happened to my "My Documents" folder on my SD card. I had all my phatpad, excel files, pictures, music... all that stuff in my "My Documents" file... and now.. its all gone.

Has anyone had this problem?? Is there anyway to recover the files?

Thanks

Not exactly, but something similiar. I had a folder on my sd card named "Files to be deleted" that disapeared with everything in it. I created a new folder with the same name and it happened again. So I've given up on that folder.

I think in my case it's prob due to some internal flash errors that appeared after I restored my device with Sprite backup. I hope they all go away after a hard reset.

Had the same problem--bugginess is just one of the joys of Windows Mobile. In my case, it only happens to folders that were not created by my Axim itself. My solution is to always create folders using File Explorer on the Axim itself. It usually seems to be OK to copy files from the PC into folders on the card, as long as those folders were created by the Axim.

To see if this is the problem, put the card in a card reader and open it up on your PC. If you can now see the missing files, voila. Copy the card to your desktop, then delete the troubled folders from the card. Put the card back in the Axim, and use File Explorer to create the folders you want. Then put the card back in the card reader and copy the files from the copy on your PC into the folders on the card. Copying folders is bad, but copying files is USUALLY OK. If the files STILL don't show up in File Explorer on the Axim, then use the card reader to delete them and copy them into the folders again. I've never had to do it a third time.

A better solution is to reformat the card using a digital camera or software in the PDA itself (Resco Explorer or Flash Format work well). Turns out a lot of cards come misformatted--reformatting them solves this problem.
