Remote Desktop is so handy

I tried out Remote Desktop to avoid needing VPN and VNC and I got that and more. It works great on my x51v and I now can use my work PC as well. Now I got to plan my next project, I am thinking of dusting off an old tv card and setup tv streaming.

Yep, I use Remote Desktop all of the time with my Axim. And just in case that doesn't work, I'll use VNC as a backup.

I don't have a tutorial. Can only do it with XP professional. Can google for instructions to setup.

Basically enable Remote Desktop, enable the app in the Windows firewall, for router port forward port 3389 to the pc.
now can use 'Terminal Services Client' on the axim.
from internal network use the machine's ip, from external network I use ISP IP.

As long as at least a decent Dsl wifi, I can access my home PC with ease.

Now going to work on something similar for my linux server.

I have Windows XP Home so I can't use Terminal Services. I use Logmein instead. It's free and so far it's working great for me.

Remote Desktop/Terminal Services is great but if you can install Logmein on the target machine you'll love it more. My desktop is set at 1280x1024 and incredibly you can see it all on the x30's QVGA screen, as well as zoom in and back out again. Easier to work with than Remote Desktop imho.

Win XP Home can be hacked to enable Remote Desktop.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/06/03/xp_hack/

I know there are some other pages showing you how too but couldn't find them quickly with Google. Search and you should find them.
