Axim X51v, outlook xp, won't sync task that i make on the axim
New to the forum, new to the axim! I really like this thing, its doing a great job of keeping me organized. It came with the A06 firmware, and i did the fake server trick right off the bat. I installed the outlook xp that came with it (which upgraded my outlook 2000). I can sync from the desktop to the pda no problem, but when i add/change tasks on the axim, the changes don't reflect back. i couldn't find any settings in activesync that allowed me to alter this behavior, and my searches both here and on google have turned up a whole lot of nothing.
ok, just got some new info. i deleted tasks from the sync list and reenabled it. it showed all of my tasks to sync but then failed on the 3 that only the PDA has with this error:
"The following tasks failed to synchronize from the device:
1. Subject: blah blah blah
Due: [unknown]
2. Subject: blah blah blah
Due: [unknown]
3. Subject: blah blah blah
Due: [unknown]
but if i do that, then won't it do the same thing with my email? i'm not syncing all my email over, just some, but i don't want it to sync back and then delete the email on my desktop...
ok, found out that the same problem exists with calendar items. ones that i make on the pda won't sync to outlook, but ones i make in outlook go over fine.
well mine has nothing on it, its basically brand new.
i did seem to find a fix....i updated to outlook 2003 from outlook xp. after that, and a soft reset, it is syncing both directions. we'll see how long it lasts :\
I had the same problem today, but was able to fix it. It was due to a problem with missing time zone information in Windows XP. This causes problems with Outlook. I was not able to create a new appointment in Outlook and it kept crashing. Apparently, a while back I ran a registry cleaner and it erased all of my time zone information. You can check if this is the case with your computer by going to Start/Control Panel/Date and Time and click on the Time Zone tab. If you don't see any time zones listed, or the map is incomplete, you need to restore your time zones. Go to http://windowsxp.mvps.org/timezones.htm and follow the directions. Hope it helps.
