new rom 012 for x51v on x50v opinion

No it's not a typo. You just have to have the X50v WM5 CD and the A12 x51 Update.
Start your x50v CD and after the programm has checked the rom file you have to replace the x50v rom with the a12 rom.

But be careful. I've allready done it with the a06 rom and there I've had some troubles and it was hard to flash back.

I'd like to see how the person who claimed to perform this actually got it done.

I swapped the rom images after the updater had checked the file [as was said to be nesessary in order for it to work], only to recieve the following message upon the restart of my axim x50:

"Warning: Invalid Data recieved. Please perform Hard Reset."

Which takes me straight back to WM2003.

Summary: Does nothing.

You tried that was brave. I'm guessing you need the x50v version of WM5 on your device first and then the rom swapping trick may work.

Yea, I just tried it as well. No luck here either. I assume it checks the file size or computes a checksum of the IMG before uploading it to the Pocket PC.

If you guys' warranty is still in effect, you can try to persuade Dell to replace your x50v with x51v...(That is, if you purchased WM5 upgrade or are eligible for one)

My warrenty expired at least 6 months ago. *sigh* Ah well, 2003se works fine.

Yeah, I think so. I don't have my x50v anymore...... I should have done this before sending it back to Dell for my x51v replacement.
