Windows Mobile splash screen

After installing Rom 12 I get a Windows Mobile splash screen after the dell splash screen.

Is it possible to disable this like with Rom 06

Don't believe that A06 had that option. It just wasn't there.

I'm curious though...why disable it? You just don't like the look of it?

I would prefer to see just the Dell logo.

The Windows Mobile logo reminded me of the horrible sinking feeling I got when my previous pda inexplicably drained its battery and hard reset!

I would rather not be reminded of that.

Isn't that file somewhere in \WIndows?

I though it saw it there some time ago... maybe we can overwrite that and use our own boot screen XD

That would be pretty cool actually.

Dude, I not sure what your previous PDA was but one of the major improvements of WM5 over WM2003SE is the battery draining things. Don't worry about it but hey, lets try and figure out how to change it like logo.sys in WinXP. Word!

In looking into this, I found the program SplashV.exe. I can guess what it does, but I can't do anything with it due to a complete lack of programming skills.

Ok i did half the work...

I located the file name

Welcomehead.192.png
--> VGA
Welcomehead.96.png
--> QVGA
Just replace that one...

with a new file... it needs to be one for Portrait + Horizontal or so it seems!
This one for example: http://img378.imageshack.us/my.php?image=corsetu8ic.png

And tell me if it works... i'm using my older A04 x51v with cracked digitizer so can't do anything on it :(

I'm 80% positive it should work!

No. Make sure you have your folder settings to show hidden files and protected system files.

I used SK Tools to remove SplashV.exe from startup items and I still see the "Windows Mobile" splash screen… so that's not it.
