ROM A12 USB-to-PC Setting Required Changed!

I could not connect through USB and eventually got here by way of the ActiveSync troubleshooter:

Switching the USB connection protocol
If you are using the following Windows Mobile powered device, use the steps described under the device name to switch the USB connection protocol.

see if it is possible to do the following on your device:

Do one of the following:

On a Windows Mobile powered Pocket PC, tap Start > Settings > Connections.

On a Windows Mobile powered smartphone, from the Home screen, click Start > Settings > Connections.


Click or tap USB to computer.

Clear the Enable advanced network functionality check box.

This feature is not supported on all devices. To find out if it is available for your device, contact the support number in your device documentation.

This solved my problem.

I had noticed that after I reinstalled my notebook a couple weeks ago I had a network icon for the axim in the tray area. This is something I never had before, and didn't see a reason for now. Turning off the above feature got rid of this icon and everything seems to be working fine...other then not being able to use my Bluetooth stereo headset.

This problem only happens when I use the latest ActiveSynce 4.2 from MS. My previous version does not have this problem. My ROM is A12. Will try out your suggestion.

I ran into similar problem upgrading from A06 to A12. I got an extra network icon and Activesync stopped working even though docking action still triggers Activesycn to come alive. Reinstalled Activesycn 4.1, reboot the PC, Activesync found my 51V, reset syncing options and everyththing seems back to normal.

Wow this seems to have solved the problem on my laptop computer from work. I could connect to my home PC just fine via the cradle but my laptop would just stay at "connecting". Now that I've cleared this checkbox it connects to my work laptop just fine.

Yes I upgraded to AS 4.2 Final, this could be part of it.
