X50mix worked great for me.

X50 Mix did not seem to change anything on my X51V wih A12. It either stays the same or after increasing the slider past a certain point, the sound mutes.

Is there anoter solution besides X50 mix? Is it supposed to work on the X51? It doesn't seem to for me.

Is it just me but when I am listening to Media player on my x51v and it doesn't seem loud enough I fire up realplayer and adjusting it's volume seems to boost the output of Explorer. (I did wonder if MP works within the limit set by the main volume control - little speaker symbol top right of the screen - but haven't investigated).

I have my volume on the second slider out of 6(the first slider is mute) and I have x50mix with 3d halfway up bass/treble all the way up & the headphone boost 25% up when in normal environment and 50-90% up in noisy environment and everything sounds great and I don't think hearin can be damaged on second slider.

I'm having the same problem with my X51V with A12. The volume level is approx. 75% of what is was before the ROM update.

When I plug external speakers in my Ax at work, it's not loud enough. I work in a kitchen so volume is a must.

Headphone gain reduced

Headphone gain reduced in the A12 ROM update based on this taken from the list of fixes from Dell

2. Audio driver change (headset output gain adjustment) due to French audio regulation

I'm sure the FAR required a reduction in total volume due to the kiddies blowing their hearing out using IPODS and other audio devices with headphones, especially the sealed headphones. So I am not surprised you have noticed a reduction in sound since that was listed along with the fixes.

The volume reduction is a major problem when using my axim in the car. Anyone come up with a solution?

Are you using A12 and still get the boost?

While the warning is certainly appreciated, I think that if 22 years as a professional musician didn't hurt them the couple of decibel output of a handheld won't either.

I would like the output to be a touch hotter as well. If only to serve as a stonger preamp when plugging into external speakers.
