Volume boost!
I swear my axim is getting more and more quiet. Today I had to have both TCPMP and the internal volume on full to get a decent volume (granted, it was a noisy bus). Is there any way to make the axim louder? Perhaps a program for volume?

Well, there is a pre-amp option in TCPMP. Crank that up.
(Options, Settings, Select Page, Equalizer).

Do a search for X50Mix on the site. This little program increased my volume by a lot.

Forget it, you have an X50. Thought you may have an X51 with A12 ROM, which is volume limited due to some French regulation.

Oh. But TCPMP does have a preamp. Go to Options -> Audio -> Increase preamp.

The preamp in tcmp makes it sound distorted, therefore, more obliveint to blow speaker, just use x50mix and turn treble all the way up, and bas and 3d down.

Use a headphone. Axim's little speaker is just impossible to hear in noisy environment.

Tak Maze,
I know you'll have heard this before but...
High levels of sound of long periods of time (i.e. a few hours) WILL damage your hearing permanently.
http://www.dangerousdecibels.org/hearingloss.cfm
If your going to listen to your Ax in noisey environments, try to get hold of some niose reducing ear-buds (they seal around the ear so reducing ambient leakage). If you get any 'ringing' in the ear after listening to your music, then it is too loud.
If your Axim is working correctly, setting the main volume slider to about a third and the TCPMP slider to half-way should be plenty loud enough on a typical set of headphones.

Trust me, it's not loud enough to do any damage and I barely ever use the MP3 player (bus journeys and vacation mostly). All my other audio devices, as well as those belonging to my family are capable of higher volume than my Axim (except my DS Lite).

OK
I assume you've already tested the headphones on another device (in any case it's unlikely that both headphone speaker units would have failed)
My guess would be a problem with the power supply to the headphone amp within the Axim, not something you'll be able to fix yourself i'm afraid and I don't think any software level boosters are going to fix this either. :(
Is it under warrenty or other dell cover?

Oops, sorry. Just crank up ALL the sliders in x50v mix and I'm sure that even the person next of you can hear the music.
