Techis sure know how to laugh.

I believe I had the same questions and found a little and very nice program that allowed me not only to get the date (and time) instead of the battery but also to get the nices presentation of date and time on the today screen. I like this program and would recommend you have a look at it. Look for LVM time.

The full name is LVMTime (one word). The program is written by "Lev 2006(c)" at levm@37.com

I found it at www.xda-developers.com

Good luck

Thanks Frenchy, It took me four hours but I figured it out. I was using an older version of Resco Registry Editor and the procedure is different.

->HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
->SOFTWARE
->Microsoft
->Shell
->*click* File
->*click* New
->*click* DWORD Value
->Name: ShowTitleBarClock
->DWORD Data: 1
->Base: Dec
->*click* OK
->*click* File
->*click* Exit
->Press Power button to suspend mode
->Wait 30 seconds
->Press Power Button to bring out of suspend mode
->SOFT RESET
