Successful restore of backup with A12 upgrade?

Anyone succesfully restored their backup (SPB Backup/Sprite/Internal) after A12 ROM update?? If so, which backup program did you use?

I am a big supporter of Sprite and it is the only one that I know of that has an upgrade mode. anything other than that and you take the chance of restoring files that were upgraded by the ROM. Of course you can just do a hard reset to fix this but not sure it is worth the trouble.

I did not do a restore but a fresh install of every application and its data. I think with a new ROM update its an opportunity to prevent old issues from presenting themselves in the frersh ROM updated X51V (IMHO)

Many people did successfully restored from Sprite Backup, including me. However, I got tons of errors at first. After a bit of tweaking, though, everything is running smoothly now.

BTW, I think that the instructions dell provided for the ROM update did say that you can restore using built in backup utility.

I tried using spb backup and it didn't work. it errored out during the restore process several times and then after it soft-resetted it wouldn't boot. I'm working on reinstalling everything now (pain!).

Yes, please, how do you do this? The sprite help file talks about saving the backup file on the device. Does this mean the backup survives the ROM upgrade? Can I just backup and restore from the PC? It also talks about GetUpgradeFile.exe being in the Sprite folder but it isn't. Is there a better step by step guide? Help!

I was able to restore my PIM data w/ the WM5 internal back-up program. It duplicated everything at first, but I was able to resolve it.

The answer isnät that simple. AKu2 has nothing to do with backups' restorability. Genrrally, everything is restorable; you will only need to apply a differential registry/file system hack after the restore. That's what I'll publish in 1-2 days.

Not to sound too anxious but will you post that to this thread or should I monitor another one? Thanks!

Will announce the upgrade everywhere - you'll most probably run into it. Dunno when it'll happen though - I've been pretty busy.
