got sick of the hangs and power drain etc. and went for a hard reset and restore using sprite. Sprite reported a heap of errors.

What I notice everytime I hardreset is that the Ax default date is july 1st 2005 ? is this nomal ? is it the mfg date or ROM date....if the latter how can that be ?

I nave noticed sometimes after hangs that it has go e to this date 2 ?

Are you restoring data via Sprite backup after the rom upgrade? Isn't that suppose to be a big no no? But yea, the time and date will default. After a hardreset you always have to change the time and date to current.

After the hardreset and before installing anything, I would test and see if your having battery drainage. A good test is to turn on WiFi (and BT if you want) then just sit the axim down while on. Let it go into standby itself and leave it overnight.

If alls well, your axim should have about 96% battery remaining in the morning after (8 hours). If not, it'll be dead. Its a good test to see before you do anything.

I did a hardreset and tested and everything is fine now. So I'm thinking that something I installed last time was the cause of battery drainage issues.

Having suffered from poor battery life post A12 and seeing what others had done, I did my second hard re-set. Disaster!

If I take my X51v off charge and leave it off, it will not switch on after about 5 mins. Put it on charge, it will switch on but reports the battery at less than 10%. It then comes up to full charge in a couple of minutes.

I have tried this with 2 batteries – both perform the same. Some fault in the battery meter software?

Only recently installed software is SpB backup ( to ease the hard re-set work) but I cannot imagine that is doing it – this does not coincide with any schedules backups.

Only other 'new' thing I have done recently is use if for a 6 hour jouney as a sat nav in a Tom Tom moulded mount - it did get rather warm!

Any ideas before I contact Dell?
