Downgrading A12 to A06: Anyone tried?

Hello,

I think about converting my unit to an english one for a month or so, but to reconvert to a german version, I want to be able to reflash the english A06. Has anyone tried this?

I don't recommend you trying it, because there isn't any public German A00 SD image to downgrade it back. Moreover, if you try the ROM swap trick and you already have an A01 German version, you won't be able to do it, and hard reset won't work you until Dell releases German A02.

thank you for your reply - but it is possible to change from A06 to the german A01 with the help of both flashprograms. You don't need the SD-imageloader to do this. It's the old Ipaq-trick which works with Dell as well: You start the english updateprogram, and just befor the flash begins, you replace the english Romimage with the german file.

However, is it possible to flash from A12 to A06 (english)?

I tried it and it did not work. I did not like the new enterprise security policy feature that requires a strong password.
The A06 update program complains about some sort of validation failure of the ROM file.

Thanks for the report - it seems that I better wait for a german A12 - if there will ever be one...
